FEDERAL HIGH COURT SACKS DUMO LULU-BRIGGS AND REPLACE PRECIOUS BARIDOO AS GOVERNORSHIP ASPIRANT FOR ACCORD PARTY

Justice  E.A OBILE declared PRECIOUS BARIDOO as the authentic Governorship Candidate of the Accord Party and barred DUMO LULU-BRIGGS and his agent from parading LULU-BRIGGS as the Governorship Candidate of the Party in the State. Justice OBILE in a five hours judgement held that DUMO LULU-BRIGGS never contested the Primary Election of Accord Party, disclosing that PRECIOUS BARIDOO who contested the party primary did not in any time relinquished his candidature to anyone. In Okrika Local Government Area, of Rivers State, voting ended peacefully. TheGlobewindows correspondent who monitored the local government Area report that the election was peaceful except for ward 6,7,8,9 that  materials where no way to be found and some complaints by electorate that  ballot papers sent for the LGA were incomplete. WHO TO SUPPORT 5 COUNTRIES TO FIGHT LASSA FEVER OUTBREAKS

  Elfredah Kevin The World Health Organization (WHO) has scaled up its efforts to support  five countries in Western Africa reporting outbreaks of Lassa fever. While these outbreaks are occurring during the Lassa fever season in countries where the disease is endemic, the speed of escalation is of concern.  According to the statement, The largest outbreak thus far has affected 16 states in Nigeria, you will recall that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) declared an outbreak of Lassa fever on 22 January 2019, which 213 confirmed cases to date, including 42 deaths, mark a significant increase, with a third of the total cases for all of last year, when Nigeria experienced its worst outbreak of Lassa fever, adding that four health workers have been infected so far in this latest outbreak.  ''In Nigeria, WHO is scaling up its efforts to support the Federal authorities, NCDC and the affected Nigerian states in responding to the outbreak. ...

CANCER: 8.2 MILLION DEATHS  IN 2018 - WHO

This is according to the Message of the Regional Director, Dr Matshidiso Moeti, on the occasion of the World Cancer Day 2019. Dr Matshidiso Moeti, further stated that 8.2 million deaths occurred in 2018, whereas 18.1million new cases reported, which described poverty as the major challenge ''Cancer continues to be one of the leading causes of mortality worldwide. New cases and deaths from cancer continue to rise. In 2012, there were 14 million new cases and 8.2 million deaths, whereas in 2018 there were 18.1 million new cases and 9.6 million deaths. If current trends are maintained, the cancer burden in Africa is projected to double from 1,055,172 new cancer cases in 2018 to 2,123,245 cancer cases by 2040. PIND TRAINED 40 SERVICE PROVIDERS TO BOOST NIGER DELTA ECONOMIC
